Most popular photo from Gunsmoke…Dennis and his horse….Dennis played the character of “Chester” for 9 wonderful years…between 1955-1964…..During that time, the name “Chester” was a household word……people named their children and their dogs “Chester.” His endearing character warmed the hearts of fans everywhere. Dennis won an emmy for his role in Gunsmoke during the 1958-59 season.

This is the most popular McCloud photo. Dennis is wearing his famous sheepskin coat…..many people ordered coats like this one during the time of the series – 1971-1977…and many NYC and LA policemen grew mustaches. The McCloud character endeared itself to millions of television viewers because Sam Mc Cloud was always for the underdog.

This color photo was taken by the 100 year old cabin on the Weaver property. This cabin was the first structure on the acreage. When Dennis and Gerry purchased the property, the cabin had an outhouse and “one bulb” electricity….Today, it is a guesthouse.

One of Dennis favorite photos…..this one is from Buck James….a short lived series where Dennis’ character was loosely based on Dr. James Red Duke….a very well known trauma surgeon, and also ran a working ranch. As “Buck James” Dennis operated with his boots on. Great show.
