Chester
Most popular photo from Gunsmoke. Dennis and his horse. Dennis played the character of Chester for nine seasons, from 1955-1964. During that time, the name “Chester” was a household word. People named their children and their dogs “Chester.” His endearing character warmed the hearts of fans everywhere. Dennis won an emmy for his role in Gunsmoke during the 1958-59 season.

Most popular McCloud photo. Dennis is wearing his famous sheepskin coat Many people ordered coats like this one during the time of the series – 1971-1977. And many NYC and LA policemen grew mustaches. The McCloud character endeared itself to millions of television viewers because Sam Mc Cloud was always for the underdog.

Centennial
Great photo from the television series Centennial, "The Longhorns" segment. Dennis' character, R.J. Poteet, leads a cattle drive across Texas and into Colorado, bringing the first longhorns to the state. This series also featured Dennis' son, Robert.

Description
One of Dennis' favorite photos. This one is from Buck James, a short lived series where Dennis’ character was loosely based on Dr. James Red Duke, a very well known trauma surgeon who also ran a working ranch. As Buck, Dennis operated with his boots on. Great show.

Amber Waves
Another wonderful photo , this time from Amber Waves. a movie made for television about wheat harvesting. Dennis’ character is dying from lung cancer, and he wants to insure that there would be be a crop next year for his daughter and son.

Duel
Three photos from one of the first movies made for television. It was Steven Spielberg’s debut directing job. Due to the success of the film, it was later released theatrically around the world. Today, it remains on the top of the classic list and is shown 5 to 6 times a year on television.

Dennis in Malibu
One of Dennis favorite photographs taken on the beach in Malibu, California outside the beach house that the Weavers used to own. It was always a relaxing time for Dennis between filming to return to the house on the beach. During one of those times, this photo was taken in the 1980's.

This color photo was taken by the 100 year old cabin on the Weaver property. This cabin was the first structure on the acreage. When Dennis and Gerry purchased the property, the cabin had an outhouse and “one bulb” electricity. Today, it is a guesthouse.
